This year, the Queen Mary offered 6 mazes instead of 7. The mazes are a little different than the previous year. Therefore, it is worth going again as you will likely notice a different story from the returning mazes. So by no means, are the mazes "watered" down; except maybe for DEADRISE (pun intended). The Ice Cave in the front next to INTREPID is a nice touch since guests can enjoy a cool down prior or after attending the mazes. The mazes on the ship are generally a lot warmer than the ones on the ground.
INTREPID takes you on a story where you board and depart a train and arrive at Edinburgh Station. The set is impressive as it feels like you've been put inside a real movie set with snow falling from the sky. Guests then enter a skull cavern where you'll have to find your way out through with the limited light source inside alongside creatures with beaks.
DEADRISE is a sinking ship with a crew on board that were seemingly unlucky enough to remain stranded. Therefore, you'll have to evade them to get through as you are trespassing in their forever home.
CIRCUS seems to be a mainstay at the ship since the Ringmaster character exists along with the scare actors and clowns that walk the grounds. It seems that the entire ground level has a CIRCUS theme judging by the props, the stages, the mini shows and the displays. The maze itself offers a heightened scary/fun experience as the clowns either scare you or make you walk in circles!
FEAST sounds like a yummy mid-scare buffet, but you may save this for last because....you're the buffet! What starts off as a fine dining establishment suddenly turns into hell's kitchen; literally. You think you're being lead to the prime meats until you realize you're the one inside the oven.
B340 puts you in the middle of a crime scene investigation. We were briefed by a detective on the case and warned what was going on. As we walked through evidence and the actual crime scene of grisly images and gory surroundings, we realize that this is no ordinary murder. The characters involved and the surroundings suggest a ritualistic killing, and we were in the middle of it all.
LULLABY is a great one to save for last. You get to meet Scary Mary and play with her inside her infinite dollhouse. Infinite, because it seems the dollhouse is never-ending and no matter where you turn, Scary Mary is there to ask if you want to play. Either stay or play, or risk seeing her get mad.
PANIC: 4D is a recommended pit stop or rest break to recharge and refuel inside a comfy theatre. Why go through a maze when you can get the maze come to you? We won't give any spoilers on the story but we'll leave you with this one liner: PANIC: 4D is essentially a VR maze you get to enjoy in comfy theatre chairs!
THE OTHER ATTRACTIONS feature live fire dancing, sliders, singers, musicians and various talent. There is always something to do and something to watch if you are too afraid to enter another maze. There are also plenty of photo-ops with the props and with the some of the stars such as: The Captain, The Ringmaster, and Graceful Gail. It is definitely worth it to sail the dark harbors again.
